Message from the CWQA Board of Directors President

Happy Holidays!

Rob Woodland, CWQA President

Rob Woodland
CWQA President

I wanted to take this time to wish everyone a very happy holiday season.

2022 seemed to fly by so quickly but as most of you know the water treatment industry in Canada has been busy since mid-year in 2020 and only now, some of you, will have the opportunity to take a small break.

The CWQA had a busy year with 14 online webinars, an excellent spring conference held in Burlington, ON that brought members together from across Canada. We welcomed 5 new Board members in 2022 that will continue to serve all the CWQA members. The Board now consists of 13 directors from 7 provinces across Canada and they represent members from every province. Head to the CWQA website to see what director represents your province.

There was a continued focus on education in 2022, through the webinars, but also with the help of our Education Consultant we saw 8 new individuals obtaining their certification in water treatment, either as Certified Installers, Certified Service Technician or Certified Water Technicians. This is no easy feat, and each should be commended for their tenacity to get through the training.

As a CWQA member you follow a code of ethics and by getting your education solidifies your commitment to provide “Clean, safe water for all Canadians’.

Thank you for your continued support of the Canadian Water Quality Association, and I welcome your ideas and suggestions on how we can improve your association further. As we look ahead to 2023 we have some great opportunities for new and exciting plans.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and those that celebrate Kwanzaa and other special events. May you all have a happy, healthy holiday season.

Thank you to our volunteers

Ultraviolet vs Reverse Osmosis

There are many common misconceptions about which water treatment equipment is best-suited to treat various contaminants in relation to residential water sources in Canada. This comparison of Ultraviolet Disinfection and Reverse Osmosis highlights two of the most common types of systems that are commonly installed in rural and municipal water source applications. Understanding what each system can treat and how it works is important when considering the installation of drinking water equipment.
