It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of David Loveday, WQA Global Government Affairs Director. We know the impact of this news will be felt far, wide and deeply by many of you as it has by the entire WQA staff. And that reach and depth is exactly what we all know to have been David’s strength in his countless relationships, connections, and positive impact on so many. His achievements and leadership over the past nearly 15 years have supported our industry and the betterment of water quality and public health immensely. David battled cancer for the past several months and privately dealt with the complications and challenges that come with treatment. He never let on the difficulties that he faced, and he never stopped contributing in every way he could to WQA and to our members and clients. He was as committed as ever and he stayed positive throughout. His final days were peaceful and he passed with his loving family at his side. As David entered hospice in his final days, he worked with John Hoffman, a previous WQA communications consultant and long-time friend, to create a remembrance to share his achievements. We have so much to be thankful for in all that David accomplished and those benefits will continue to be seen long after his time with us. He was a friend, a colleague, a mentor, and a tireless champion of all the good that this industry provides every day. We know many of you had a personal connection with David and will want to share your thoughts and condolences. An obituary and online guestbook are available through Humes Funeral Home, and information on services will be posted there. Memorial contributions may be made to the David Loveday Memorial Research Fund of the Water Quality Research Foundation, which will go toward scientific research to support David’s passion for water quality and continue his legacy of sound science in policy- and decision-making. The memorials can be made online or via check made out to WQRF and mailed to 2375 Cabot Drive, Lisle, IL 60532. As WQA Staff, we also ask for your patience and understanding as we deal with the loss and the transition that comes with it. Peace be with you, Pauli Undesser WQA Executive Director
